End of year thoughts...

Hey everyone,

2016 has almost finished, and this year was many exciting "firsts" for our team.

To start things off, we completed Beast Wars II / Beast Wars Special DVDs - a highly anticipated release among the English speaking Transformers community which was previously unknown to the West on the story and characters involved.

Beast Wars Metals Convoy's Great Transformation - A previously VHS only release which we re-authored from scratch to a DVD quality format for fans on both sides of the ocean. Additionally, it wouldn't have been complete with our subtitles in English.

One OK Rock - With our collaboration between both native Japanese and English team members, we've managed to be the first group to accurately translate many interviews and songs for our fans via our YouTube channel.

And finally, Rurouni Kenshin The Takarazuka Musical, which was a first for us to tackle a full-length musical. This project challenged us the most this year, as we worked diligently so that our Rurouni Kenshin fans could understand this incredible presentation. It was also a first that we also came to the realization that not all fandom groups are created equal. And in order to respect the wishes of the Takarazuka fandom and their concerns for the actresses and the Hankyu company as a whole, we decided to pull the public release.

In the coming year, please look forward to more of our releases from One OK Rock to Transformers.

Whatever you may be celebrating this holiday season, we at Karyuudo Fansubs wish you the safest and happiest of holidays with your loved ones. And no matter what type of fans you are, thank you for always reaching out to us with your honesty and respect towards us. 皆さん、こんにちは。

２０１６年ももうすぐ終わりですね、今年は我々チームにとって、たくさんの「初めて」の事があり、エキサイティングな年となりました。

①まず一つめはビーストウォーズ・セカンドの全エピソードと、それに付随する特別DVDによるエピソードの英語への翻訳と字幕付けを完了しました。英語圏においてトランスフォーマー・ファンのコミュニティではその作業完了を待ち望んでいるファンの方たちがたくさんいました、そのストーリーと登場キャラクターについては日本以外のファンには未知の領域でしたので、その長い未知時代（１８年）がとうとう終わった事はトランスフォーマー・ファンの間では嬉しい出来事でした。

②劇場版ビーストウォーズ・メタルス　コンボイ大変身！：もともとはVHSのみのリリースのものをDVD品質に一から再び生み出しました。ですので、英語字幕付きですが日本のファン、海外のファン共々楽しめるようになっています。

③ワンオクロック：日本人と英語圏ネイティブのメンバーたちとチームを組んで、ワンオクロックの数々のインタビュー、歌などを日本語・英語字幕付きでユーチューブにてリリースしました。これからも我々の力の及ぶ限り、正確で質の高い翻訳を提供できるよう、チーム一同協力しながら、努力していきます。

④そして、最後に、宝塚歌劇団による「るろうに剣心」・・・これは狩人ファンサブが初めて手掛けたミュージカルでした。今年、このプロジェクトはいろいろな意味で私たちチームにチャレンジ（頭痛・心痛も含む）を与えました。海外の”るろうに剣心”ファンが宝塚歌劇団によるこの非常に素晴らしいパフォーマンスの内容を理解できるよう、英語字幕を付けましたが、完了の日を迎え一般公開をした直後に、世界中すべてのファングループが同様ではないという事を初めて知ることとなりました。英語圏の宝塚ファンの強い要望と彼らが持つ宝塚の俳優さんたちと阪急への懸念事項を考慮・尊重し、一般公開を断念する事となりました。

これから来る新しい年、ワンオクロックとトランスフォーマー関連のリリースは同様にしていきますので、楽しみにしていてくださいね。

Rurouni Kenshin: The Takarazuka Revue Musical - English Subbed

Update 12/13/2016: After careful discussion and consideration with both Takarazuka fans and our internal team, we've decided to remove this in order to protect the Takarazuka International fandom. Please note, that our release was intended for the Rurouni Kenshin fandom, and since we were not familiar with the Takarazuka fandom, we were not aware of the delicate situation they feel they're in. Going forth, Takarazuka fans can be relieved to know that we will not be planning on subtitling any further productions. 

We thank those Takarazuka and Rurouni Kenshin fans who were kind enough to reach out to our Facebook page and provide a very open and honest discussion about their concerns. Having a professional and constructive debate goes a long way to ensuring that one's message gets across to both parties involved. We want to wish the best to the Takarazuka fandom, and hopefully one day Hankyu will offer all their productions with English subtitles so that fansubs like ours are not required.
